Haruna is a Japanese documentary film director and filmmaker based in New York. Born in Tokyo and grew up in Hokkaido Japan surrounded by beautiful mountains, rivers, and trees.  
In 2022, her first directed short documentary film "EKIDEN" was nominated and premiered at the Asian American International Film Festival in NY.  
A feature documentary film "Born Balearic: Jon Sa Trinxa and the Spirit of Ibiza" she produced has been nominated by several international film festivals such as Seeyousound International Film Festival in Italy, Doc'n Roll Film Festival in the UK, and more. It was also distributed at 12 movie theaters in Japan.
Currently, Haruna is in post-production on a short documentary film about her grandmother and her home. Haruna's grandmother had Alzheimer's disease during her last several years until she passed away. She left piles of journals at home that she had kept writing how she was feeling and what she was doing in every single moment, a three-sixty-degree view of her life.
